First phase of teaching practice begins... WEEK ONE

            

                As part of my two year B.Ed course (2022-2024 ), I  and another teacher trainee from my college, Aisha went to P K K Memorial HSS, Kayamkulam for the first phase of school internship starting from 11th October 2023. We arrived at 9:15 am in school. There was no outside assembly in the morning but everyone has to stand up for morning prayer before starting the school activities. Since it was out first day, my co-teacher trainee and me waited till third period for the headmistress to come. During this time, we mingled with the teaching and non-teaching staff and familiarised the school environment and activities. Later, we met the HM and she gave instructions regarding our roles and duties and asked us to seek the support of Prameela Miss who is our subject teacher-in-charge.

            We started off our journey by assisting the teachers in conducting a quiz competition. I was given the charge of 8 B class. There are 32 students in total. I built a good rapport with them and took efforts to note down and learn their names. I believe that it's a necessary step to build connection with them. I also set classroom norms on the first first day itself. On the second day onwards, I started teaching a beautiful poem "Song of the Flower" and made the class an active one with lots of discussions, ICT based teaching aids and interesting activities.

            I was given several substitution periods as well and also had to monitor the youth festival practices of both class 8 and class 9.

                I also lent a hand in distributing the midday meals to the students.
