WEEK SIX OF TEACHING PRACTICE

On Monday, we had an assembly by Class 8A. It was in English. Our duty was to prepare the students for the morning assembly. We helped them with the prayer, pledge, thought of the day, news reading in English, and exercise commands. We also chose a student for a special program. This student won a prize for Arabic recitation at the Sub District Youth Festival and sang that song in the assembly.

In my English classes, my students greeted me very enthusiastically. After a short informal talk, I started teaching. Before beginning the new lesson, I asked questions related to the previous portion I taught. I also gave them engaging activities to make the learning process fun.

Substitution periods were also an interesting experience for me. They gave me the chance to explore myself as a teacher. I learned more about classroom management and how to engage students through various games and activities during these periods.

When I asked comprehension questions, some students didn’t answer. I thought it was because of the way I framed the questions, so I made them simpler. However, they still didn’t give proper answers, so I had to reteach the entire portion. I made sure the students understood the concepts before I left the class.

I realized that sometimes reteaching and rephrasing questions are very important. Student responses are valuable feedback for me as a teacher trainee. It helps me understand their learning needs better.

This week taught me many lessons. I am learning to be more patient and to adapt my teaching methods based on the students' needs. This experience is helping me grow as a teacher trainee.
