WEEK SIX OF TEACHING PRACTICE

Image
On Monday, we had an assembly by Class 8A. It was in English. Our duty was to prepare the students for the morning assembly. We helped them with the prayer, pledge, thought of the day, news reading in English, and exercise commands. We also chose a student for a special program. This student won a prize for Arabic recitation at the Sub District Youth Festival and sang that song in the assembly.                  In my English classes, my students greeted me very enthusiastically. After a short informal talk, I started teaching. Before beginning the new lesson, I asked questions related to the previous portion I taught. I also gave them engaging activities to make the learning process fun.                Substitution periods were also an interesting experience for me. They gave me the chance to explore mysel...

WEEK FIVE OF TEACHING PRACTICE

This week, we had a special assembly. It was in Hindi. This was entirely a new experience for me. The assembly was conducted on Mondays only.  The Headmistress gave a speech. Her words were very inspiring for the students and teachers.             We also celebrated Children’s Day. It is the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. The students gave speeches and they all spoke very well.  On 14th November, it was World Diabetes Day. So health officials from Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital visited our school to take samples from the staff.            I tried to learn how to use the classroom projector this week. I want to use it for my lessons. Using the projector can make my teaching better and help the students understand more.           I had my second observation this week. My option-in-charge, Rekha miss and Archana...

WEEK FOUR OF TEACHING PRACTICE

I have always loved educational strikes. On 7th November, there was no class as it was an educational strike in Kerala. However we had to go to the school and had to sign the register. I was sad because there won't be students but I still had to go to school and sit there till evening. Without wasting time, I prepared the author profile for my upcoming lessons and I made the charts for teaching poetic devices. Eventhough in the afternoon, I left the school after the HM told us to,  I missed my students on that day. The school without students felt empty and lacked the vibrant energy that my students brought .             Like last week, we had invigilation duties in this week as well. Exams were conducted in the third and the fifth period. The nervousness of the initial days of teaching practice are no longer there. There is a ne...

WEEK THREE OF TEACHING PRACTICE

After our university exams, we came back for teaching practice on 31st October 2023. On 1st November 2023,keralappiravi day was commemorated by a song sung by a student from 8 A. Unfortunately, no special programmes were conducted on that day. Also model exams started from Monday onwards in selected periods for 8th,9th and 10th classes. I had invigilation duty on all the days.           On 31st, a student from my class was ill. He had severe stomach ache. So I accompanied him to the office, made arrangements for the child and inquired about his condition and his guardian was called for. I waited till the guardian took him to the hospital. He was sent with a first aid medicine. I understood that a teacher is not just someone who teaches textual material but also one who should look after their students and give them love, care and support.         ...
