Chirath- College Union and Arts Club Inauguration

Image
On the 17th of January 2023, our college held a memorable event—the inauguration of the College Union and Arts Club. The ceremony began at 10:30 AM and was inaugurated by Anagha J Kolath, a Malayalam poetess and the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Puraskar in 2022. The guest sang poems and talked about children's literature. The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected union members was then done. The college union name was revealed- "Chirath," meaning light and enlightenment. The ceremony was marked by the lighting of the lamp by the union members and teachers, followed by everyone lighting small candles, symbolizing unity and collective effort. The union consists of ten members, led by Chairman Krishnanunni, Vice Chairperson Vrindha, and Secretary Anjana. Each member passionately spoke about their vision and plans for the upcoming college days. Everyone congratulated them and we are all looking forward to our college days.

English Subject Association- LITWITS

Image
We the students of English option organised our subject association 'LITWITS' on 6th January 2023. The ceremonial lamp was lighted by our dear Principal and option head, Rekha mam. She gave the inaugural address and also unveiled our magazine “CHASMENTA”. The magazine was a literary and artistic product of our joint efforts. The word 'chasmenta' itself means teamwork. We then invited all the students and teachers to our option class where we were conducting a literary exhibition to introduce everyone to the world of Indian English Literature. We also set up a mini library in our option class for all those who would like to develop a taste for literature. Our magazine was also presented in the library for every one to read. We didn’t limit the exhibition to chart paper writings. We presented the actual book along with details of the author we were trying to introduce them to. There were also puzzles, word games and identification games to actively involve th...

Christmas Day Celebrations at JBMCTE

Image
The preparation started several days before the Christmas day celebration.  The students were divided into two houses and I was part of house number 1 supervised by Nisha Miss. We were really excited about the Christmas day competitions. Our Whatsapp group was flooded with ideas, suggestions, and messages for organising stuff, buying decorative items, distributing duties, practising for individual and group competitions, and scheduling offline and online meetings. We met at a group member’s house and manually made so many things required for crib-making and room decoration.  The programme began with carol song competition. Both houses sang exceptionally well. After that was crib-making and room decoration. Without sparing a minute, every one of us actively participated in the making. In between, we also faced some minor difficulties and setbacks but the team handled the situations diligently. Both of the rooms were superbly decorated and were visually pleasing. T...

College Union Election (2022-2023)

Image
Several days before the day of the college union election for the academic year 2020 to 2023, the teacher who was assigned the duty to conduct the election came to our classroom and read the election notification and the 10 posts for which the election was going to be conducted. Initially not many students came forward to stand for the election. Due to the insistence of my teacher, Mrs Rekha mam, who is also our Principal, I decided to give my name as a candidate for the position of Secretary to the Women Study Cell. She told us that participation is also important for our growth as a student and as an individual. It is not necessary to win every time you participate. Sometimes you have to go through failures too. We have to learn how to accept and learn from failures. It does not matter that you win or lose,  all that matters is a courage to participate.       At last, 22 students gave their names for contesting in the el...

Keralappiravi Celebrations- AARAVAM 2022

Image
We Malayalees celebrate Kerala Piravi to commemorate the birth of Kerala as an independent State in the Republic of India on November 1, 1956. We celebrated Kerala Piravi in our college on November 1st 2022. The celebration was titled as “Aaravam 2022”. All of us were dressed in traditional Kerala outfits i.e., girls in set saree and boys in Mundu. The program started with a welcome dance by 3 students- Bhavya, Anjana and Roselet and it turned out to be a gracious performance. A fusion group song by a group of 11 students evoked in everyone a festive spirit. I too was a part of the group song. A Ramp walk was also organised for us and it was held in three sessions. In between the sessions, other cultural programs were included.  In the first session of the ramp walk,  the contestants walked on the stage with full confidence and grace in the traditional attire. It was my first experience walking on a ramp. This was followed by a Vanchippattu by yet another group  of s...

My First Day Experience at College

Image
It has always been my desire to become a teacher right from my childhood. I always felt immense happiness and satisfaction whenever I was able to explain things to someone and they learn something because of me. And that's why I decided to pursue B.Ed degree. My first day of B.Ed at Jameela Beevi Memorial Centre for Teacher Education, Kayamkulam was on 13th September 2022. The college atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. The students were asked to assemble in the main hall,  where the morning assembly was conducted. The last time I was part of a morning assembly was when I was in school five years ago. Here, all the teachers, students- both juniors and seniors were present. The morning prayer ushered in a positive spirit in my mind. It was then followed by the pledge, news-reading, speech and other activities by seniors and finally the national anthem. After that, the principal addressed the students and urged them to make the best out of these two years in the college....
