WEEK TEN OF TEACHING PRACTICE

Image
This was my last week of teaching practice (Phase 1). The Christmas exams were going on this week and I had my usual exam duties. Each day, I explained the exam rules to the students, told them to stay quiet, and warned them not to cheat. I would also remind them of the time left in writing the exam.           On Tuesday, my teacher-in-charge in the school asked me to write the marks of last year's SSLC students in a record. I had to calculate and convert their marks into grade points and finished that by the afternoon.  I also had to help her enter student data in Kite Samagra.  Teachers have many tasks other than teaching.  Teachers need to multitask and have many skills.           Thursday was the last day of the Christmas exams and my last day of teaching practice. I thought about all I had learned and how much I had grown as a teacher. In the aftern...

WEEK NINE OF TEACHING PRACTICE

This week was quite eventful at school. I made sure to arrive on time every day, sign the attendance register, and get ready for the first periods in 8 B. My usual tasks included covering substitution periods and teaching English in 8 B.   In my English class, my students and I spent a lot of time talking about nature since we were finishing up the chapter 'A Day in the Country'. The kids had so many questions about different things related to nature. I tried to make them feel comfortable so that they can ask me doubts and talk about their thoughts and opinions freely. To help them understand better, I used a lot of pictures and videos. I tried to be a friendly and approachable teacher. I also gave them notes and wrote in large letters with colorful chalks, which they loved. I also gave them positive reinforcement every now and then like thumbs-ups, high fives, and verbal praises.           On Tuesday, I di...

WEEK EIGHT OF TEACHING PRACTICE

This week was interesting because we held our student elections. The event was organized to teach students about the democratic process and the importance of voting.  The students voted for their candidates, and got to know how elections are conducted. I felt happy to see the students take this seriously and participate actively.            I helped the sports teacher by entering student details into the sports site of the educational department. It was a new experience for me.  I started a new chapter called "A Day in the Country." I made the lesson interesting by using multimedia and having discussions with the students. They asked questions and shared their thoughts about the characters. When the class got noisy, I used non-verbal cues like staring and a quiet signal to get their attention back. I also gave positive feedback to encourage them.           I help...

WEEK SEVEN OF TEACHING PRACTICE

This week was very satisfying. Everything was planned and organized well. I no longer feel nervous during my classes. I also have a good relationship with my students. Every afternoon this week, I helped distribute meals to the students. I also handed out midterm exam papers and recorded their marks in the register.           I spent some time learning about the school’s laboratory, ICT, and sports training programs. The school offers more than 15 sports categories, and some new sports, like Wushu, were introduced this year. The school is very supportive of extracurricular activities for the students.           While teaching "The Nightingale and the Rose" this week, I had to present an emotional scene where the nightingale sacrifices its life. I tried to make the students feel an emotional connection to...
